Sometimes, riding the horses is NOT what a child wants to do at Runnin’ WJ Ranch.
Not every student hops right on their horse and rides around the arena holding their reins. For some, the large animals are frightening, with their large listening ears and their swishing tails. For others, sitting in the therapy room watching a movie or on the comfy black couch playing iPad games sounds more appealing than boarding a moving animal.
Then, all of the sudden, after years of attempting to acclimate the rider to the horse, after a pet one day and a brush another, that same child defies all odds and mounts his horse like it’s second nature.
Wonder of his perspective from the back of his horse. Smiles, as his volunteers and teacher congratulate him for a job well done.
It’s just another everyday miracle at Runnin’ WJ Ranch.
