#GivingTuesday

We celebrated Thanksgiving last Thursday with our families and friends, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on television along with some football. We may have even taken a nap after so much turkey consumption!

Many of us braved the masses and arose before the sun on “Black Friday”…or even ventured out after turkey on Thursday to find that great deal for someone special this Christmas.

Or there are those of us who stayed in our PJ’s and ordered online or waited until “Cyber Monday” rolled around for our electronics and appliances. Keurig 50% off…check….60″ HDTV with wifi compatibility for $200…check…

Those days are already past us and here we are on a Tuesday. It’s December 2, only 23 days away from the BIG DAY…CHRISTMAS. So what’s so special about today?

It’s #GIVINGTUESDAY!

Today, we remember again how blessed we are and how much we have to be thankful for and make the choice to give back.

#GIVINGTUESDAY doesn’t have to be monetary. You can give your time to love a child week after week by Kaylee High Five Spring 2013 volunteering at Runnin’ WJ Ranch. You can give your time to help with a special project on our property, like helping with our barn expansion or new inclusive playground for children of all abilities.

You can give the gift of a pledge to volunteer at our Cutting Event Fundraiser in February or our Barrel Race Fundraiser in June! Each year, these events grow bigger and better and we need you to help us make them extra special for our participants. It is great volunteers like you that bring them back year after year.

You can give the gift of Christ’s love to a child with special needs. Along with their teachers, parents and instructors, our volunteers are our students’ biggest cheerleaders! If you’ve experienced Christ’s love in your own life, why not share it with a child with special needs? Maggie and Mercy

Be creative! Involve your WHOLE family! Giving back is FUN and so rewarding!

You can make a run to the store with the kids to purchase toilet tissue, paper towel, facial tissue, hand sanitizer, antibacterial hand soap, containers of coffee, sugar and other sweeteners as well as new or gently used children’s books or picture books.

Of course, there is always the monetary gift. As a non-profit organization, Runnin’ WJ Ranch does depend greatly on the generosity of individuals and organizations to keep our ministry alive and thriving. If you would be interested in giving a monetary gift today, visit our website to give conveniently through PayPal. If you would like to send a check, you can mail it to 4802 S. Kings Highway, Texarkana, TX 75501.

Here are a few ways your family can give back on #GivingTuesday:

sponsor card for magnets

Imagine how fun it would be to bring your children to the Ranch to visit “their” horse your family sponsors! “Horse Champions” will receive a photo of their horse along with fun facts about their equine therapist. Child Sponsors will hopefully soon begin to receive a photo of a child when they commit to sponsorship.

Any gift is appreciated and of course is always tax deductible.

Today, we want to thank a few individuals who recently gave back, greatly blessing all of us at Runnin’ WJ Ranch!

Thank you to Guaranty Bank and Trust for their $5,000 donation.

Thank you to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System for becoming a Horse Champion for equine therapist “Frankie” through a monthly donation.

Thank you to Texarkana LifeWay Christian Store for collecting soft plush animals for our students this Christmas! You can take part in this collection by visiting the store in Texarkana Pavillion and giving $5 for one of these adorable stuffed moose. Each bares the message that Jesus Loves You.

Thank you to Raising Cane’s Texarkana for coming out to the Ranch last month donating their time and also giving monetarily through an in store donation drive.

Thank you to IP Giving for a $2,500 grant to be used for our “IP Learning Forest” around our new playground, which will consist of carved wooden animals by our friend, Oklahoma Chainsaw Carver, Tom Zimmer.

Thank you also to a very special anonymous donor who gave in honor of Andi and William Kirby, aunt and uncle of Director of Public Relations and Development Mary Lynn Patterson. This gift will specifically help a child with special needs experience the incredible benefits of therapeutic horseback riding. Andi and William will visit the Ranch tomorrow for a tour.

Again, we reflect on how blessed we are at Runnin’ WJ Ranch.

Thank you for giving back.
